There are around 10,000 open competitions live on Golf Empire at any time, and new ones get added every day. Keeping an eye on a specific club, county or format used to mean checking back regularly. Email Alerts change that. Save a search once and we'll email you whenever a new matching open is added — so the events come to you, instead of you hunting for them.

How alerts work
Behind every email alert is a saved search. You set up a search you'd like to be notified about — "Yorkshire seniors under £50", "any open at Royal Lytham", "Mixed greensomes pairs events in Surrey during July" — tick the box to receive email alerts, and that's it. From then on, whenever a new open is added to the site that matches your saved search, you'll get an email.
Each alert email lists the new matching opens with the key details (date, club, format, price, link to enter), and links you straight to your My Saved Searches page where you can manage everything.
Three places to set up an alert
You can save a search and turn on alerts from any of the following pages on Golf Empire. The right one depends on how specific you want to be.
From Search+
Search+ lets you build up a multi-filter search using over 15 filters — date range, county, format, price, day of the week, course type, age category, gender, and more. Once you've narrowed your search to the events you'd actually like to be notified about, click "Save this search", give it a name, and turn on email alerts.
This is the right option when you want to combine multiple criteria — "Yorkshire 4BBBs under £60 on weekends". Keyword and basic filters are available to all members; the full filter set is unlocked with Premium.
From a county-category page
Every county-category page (like "Surrey ladies opens" or "Cheshire scratch opens") has a built-in "Get email alerts" button. One click and you'll be notified whenever a new open is added in that county or category.
This is the simplest option for most golfers. If you're loyal to a particular county or always look for the same kind of event, this is the fastest way to never miss one.
From a golf club page
Every golf club page on the site has its own "Get email alerts for this club" button. Click it and you'll get an email whenever that specific club lists a new open competition.
Brilliant for clubs you really want to play at. If you've been waiting all year for next season's opens at your favourite course to be announced, this is how you find out the moment they go live.

Daily or weekly — you choose
Each alert can be set to either:
- Weekly — one email a week summarising all new matching opens added in the past 7 days. Available to all members.
- Daily — one email per day with new matches from the previous 24 hours. Only sent on days when there's actually something new, so no empty emails. Available on Premium.
Most golfers use weekly for general "keep me in the loop" alerts (county-category pages) and daily for specific, time-sensitive ones (a single golf club they're trying to play, or a specific search like "scratch opens" or "top 100 courses" where competition for places is fierce).
Managing your alerts
All your saved searches and email alerts live in one place: My Saved Searches, accessible from the members menu. From there you can:
- See all your saved searches at a glance
- Switch any alert between daily and weekly
- Pause an alert temporarily without deleting it
- Re-run any saved search with one click to see current matching events
- Delete alerts you no longer want
You can also unsubscribe from any alert email directly from the email itself — there's a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom of every notification.
Email alerts are available to all members — you don't need Premium to use them. Premium just lifts the limits:

Free is genuinely useful — three weekly alerts is enough to cover, for example, your home county & your favourite category of event, and a couple of specific golf clubs. Premium suits golfers tracking lots of different criteria or wanting daily updates on time-sensitive searches.
Getting started
The quickest way to set up your first alert:
- Find a relevant page — a county-category page, golf club page, or Search+
- Click "Get email alerts" (or "Save this search" on Search+)
- Give it a name if you want, then confirm
- That's it — you'll get an email the next time a matching open is added
