National Club Golfer Magazine
National Club Golfer - England.
National Club Golfer Magazine produced a Top 100 England in 2017 and the results can be seen below.
The methodology, which placed an emphasis on the number of times and how recently the panel had played the courses, ensured some varied results.
Comparing it to the equivalent lists from Golf World and the Top 100 website the standout course is Piltdown which ranks at #43 but is not to be seen anywhere near the other two lists. Kington, Prestbury, Cleeve Cloud, Bude & North Cornwall, Thorpeness, East Sussex National (West), Sutton Coldfield, Painswick, Grove (The), Northants County, Tadmarton Heath, Prince's, Hallamshire, Wildernesse, Huntercombe, Isle of Purbeck, Enville (Highgate), The Addington and Copt Heath are other venues to exclusively feature.
There is no sign of St. Mellion (Nicklaus), Remedy Oak, Centurion, Crowborough Beacon, Bearwood Lakes, Stoke Park, The Wisley, Close House (Colt), Moor Park (High), Royal Wimbledon and Goodwood (Downs) which all feature in both of the other two lists.
Golf Empire founder, Ed Battye, who was a panel member has played all the courses on the list (except East Sussex National, Wildernesse & Copt Heath) and below you can find links to his golf course reviews.
