National Club Golfer Magazine
Great Britain & Ireland Top 100 - 2020
National Club Golfer produced their first ever Great Britain & Ireland Top 100 list in November 2019.
The project has been in the making for a long time following national rankings over previous years. It is a lively collection of courses with a number of new venues included that do not figure in the comparable Golf Monthly, Golf World and Top 100 Website rankings.
Indeed there are seven courses in total that are included in this list but don't feature at all in the other three publications. Royal Worlington & Newmarket and The Addington are featured but it is perhaps no surprise as both courses have been seen in earlier editions of the other lists. However, it is the quintet of Scottish links which are the most notable inclusions; Luffness New, Elie, Panmure, Gailes Links and Dunbar. We welcome this freshness and are delighted to see these excellent links featured at the expense of inferior inland courses.
As expected from a new list there are no glaring omissions although Woburn (Marquess), Broadstone and Wentworth (East) are not to be seen here whereas they do feature in all three of the other lists.
In summary the list is a welcome edition to the usual rankings and hopefully provides some freshness.
Golf Empire founder, Ed Battye, has played the majority of courses on the list and below you can find links to his golf course reviews.
