Golf Course Overview

Wheathill Golf Club was established in 1993 and sits in the quiet countryside between Somerton and Castle Cary in south Somerset. The 18-hole parkland course plays to a par of 69 over around 5,607 yards, and is complemented by a separate 8-hole academy course — ideal for beginners, juniors and players working on their short game. Although neither the longest nor the toughest course in the county, Wheathill's unique hazards, mature trees, numerous bunkers and gently rolling fairways create a genuine test for golfers of all abilities. The layout's flat, walker-friendly terrain makes it a good choice for those wanting an enjoyable but not exhausting round.

Wheathill is widely regarded as one of the more affordable courses in the South West, and its pro shop, clubhouse serving food and drinks, and buggy hire at reasonable prices make it a welcoming stop for visitors, families and casual golfers. The club takes particular pride in offering a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where players can escape, reconnect with nature and enjoy golf again. Function and conference room hire is available. The club is located at Wheathill, Lydford-on-Fosse, near Somerton, reached via the A37 and A303 and convenient for players travelling across south Somerset.
