Golf Course Overview
The West Lancashire Golf Club is among the ten oldest clubs in England, founded in 1873 at Blundellsands near Liverpool — making it one of the most historically significant links courses in the country. Set on some 200 acres on the largest dune complex in England, the 18-hole layout measures 7,016 yards at a par of 72 with a slope rating of 140, offering one of the most natural and testing links challenges in the British Isles. The course was designed by C.K. Cotton in the classic links tradition of two loops of nine returning to the clubhouse, with spectacular views over the Mersey Estuary and towards the Welsh Hills throughout.
Consistently ranked in the Top 100 courses in Great Britain and Ireland, West Lancs hosts R&A and England Golf competitions and serves as a regular Open Championship and Walker Cup qualifying venue. The course is situated just 50 yards from Hall Road Station on the Merseytravel Northern Line between Liverpool and Southport, making it exceptionally accessible. Abundant wildlife and rare flora flourish on the dunes and sandy terrain, and the club is highly regarded for its outstanding condition and warm hospitality.
