 Golf Course Overview

The West Kilbride Golf Club was established in 1893 and sits on a strip of links land and raised beach beside the coastal village of Seamill — the most northerly of Ayrshire's true links courses. The original layout was surveyed by Old Tom Morris of St Andrews, with James Braid modifying the course in 1914 and further enhancing it in 1925. The 18-hole championship links plays 6,452 yards to a par of 71, featuring a mix of upland and coastal holes with spectacular views of Arran, Bute, Cowal and the Mull of Kintyre. Notable holes include the 16th ("Hunger-em-oot") and the double-greened 17th ("Sunset"). The course follows an anti-clockwise route similar to the Old Course at St Andrews, but with frequent out-of-bounds demanding nerves of steel.

The spacious clubhouse offers a warm welcome to visitors with bar and catering, an extensive bar-snack menu, changing facilities and showers. The pro shop carries leading brands including Lyle & Scott, Callaway, Ashworth, Oscar Jacobson, Ralph Lauren and Galvin Green, and extensive practice facilities include chipping green, practice bunkers, driving nets and a long-hitting area. West Kilbride hosted the 2023 R&A Senior Home Internationals, the 2025 Scottish Boys' Championship, and the Scottish PGA Championships 2026. The course is less than an hour from Glasgow by car and 30 minutes from Troon.

"The West Kilbride Golf Club at Seamill is located on a stunning piece of the Ayrshire coast, with spectacular views across the Firth of Clyde to the beautiful island of Arran."

This delightful links, originally laid out by Old Tom Morris and later re-designed by James Braid, has somewhat of a split personality... and it all depends upon which tees you play from.
