Golf Course Overview

The Tytherington Club opened in 1986 as one of the UK's first custom-built golf and health-and-fitness country clubs. The championship course was designed by Patrick Dawson together with Dave Thomas — the Welsh professional who was twice runner-up in the Open, a four-time Ryder Cup player and later the architect of over 100 courses including all three at The Belfry. Set on 143 acres of gently rolling parkland backed by the Peak District, the course winds through mature woodland and plays to a par of 72 over approximately 6,765 yards from the blue tees, with a slope of 142. Over 100 bunkers and eight water features contribute to a challenging and visually striking layout; the stretch from the 9th through 12th — including a dog-leg played over water from the 10th tee — is particularly memorable. Gaunt Golf Design refreshed many of the bunkers in 2016.

The Tytherington is now part of The Club Company collection and combines a championship course with a 65-bedroom hotel, gym, group fitness studios, swimming pool, hydro pool, sauna, steam room, padel courts, tennis, spa and crèche. The clubhouse offers bar, restaurant and function facilities for weddings, events and corporate golf days. Visitors and society groups are welcomed. Tytherington is on Dorchester Way, easily reached from the A523 and A537 just outside Macclesfield.
