 Golf Course Overview

Tiverton Golf Club was founded in 1932 thanks to the generosity of Sir John Amory, who donated the land, and the course was designed by the great James Braid — whose other works include Gleneagles, Carnoustie and St Enodoc. The 18-hole parkland course plays to a par of 71 at 6,291 yards over undulating terrain, and has long been regarded as one of Devon's finest parkland layouts. More than 1,700 trees have been planted over the years, complementing the mature beeches, oaks and ashes that were already in place when Braid first walked the site. Recent course improvements include a new signature par-3 12th nestled beside a lake, a lengthened 16th with water in play, and the restoration of Braid's original finishing sequence after the old 11th and 18th were swapped back. A tough middle section from holes 6 to 10 often defines the round.

Visitors and societies are welcomed year-round, though member waiting lists apply for playing membership. Facilities include a clubhouse with bar, restaurant and function space that offers extensive views over the course and surrounding countryside, a pro shop, tuition services and practice areas. Tiverton sits on Post Hill on the southern edge of Tiverton, around six miles from junction 27 of the M5 at Sampford Peverell, making it a convenient stop for travellers heading further into Devon or Cornwall.
