Golf Course Overview

Telford Golf Club is part of the Telford Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, which sits within 170 acres of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site. The course opened in 1976 to a design by John Harris and Brian Griffiths, and is notable as the venue where Ian Woosnam won his first professional tournament. The 18-hole par 72 parkland layout measures around 6,741 yards and is a strategic test, with tree-lined fairways, open greens and water hazards at key moments. Tees and greens use a suspended water-table system inspired by Augusta National, with panoramic views over the Severn Valley and Ironbridge Gorge from several elevations.

Facilities at the four-star hotel and resort include 114 bedrooms, Restaurant 1779 with gorge views, the Gorge Bar & Lounge, a modern spa with steam room, ice fountain and heated loungers, a driving range, chipping area, two putting greens and a well-stocked Pro Shop with buggy hire. The club hosts society days, corporate golf days, weddings and residential golf breaks, with a variety of stay-and-play packages. The resort is at Sutton Heights, near Madeley and Ironbridge, about six miles from Telford town centre and accessible from Junctions 4 and 6 of the M54.
