Golf Course Overview

Shifnal Golf Club dates back to 1929 and moved to its present parkland site at Decker Hill in 1965, with the course laid out by noted architect Frank Pennink and later refined by Mike Cox in 1997. The 18-hole par 71 layout measures around 6,465 yards and plays over slightly undulating parkland with mature trees and some water. The opening nine features well-bunkered par 4s demanding precise approaches, while the back nine becomes more testing as Decker Hill comes into play, with uphill holes at the 14th and 16th leading to the highest point on the course and views over the surrounding countryside. Several par 4s - notably the 12th, 16th and 18th - demand accurate tee shots to attack dog-leg fairways.

The club is set in the grounds of an 18th-century regency house that houses the Pro Shop, a comfortable bar and catering facilities. Shifnal is an England Golf Championship Venue that won the 2023 England Golf Tournament Venue of the Year and has been announced as the 2027 host of the English Boys Under 14 Open Amateur Strokeplay Championship. The club welcomes visitors and societies with packages for groups from 12 up to 120, along with a regular calendar of open competitions including meals. The course is just north-east of Shifnal town, easily reached from Junction 4 of the M54 and close to Telford.
