Golf Course Overview

Rhyl Golf Club was established in 1890 and is a founder member of the Welsh Golfing Union, making it one of the most historic clubs in North Wales. The links course was designed by five-time Open champion James Braid and is part of the North Wales James Braid Golf Trail. Golfers play just yards from the Irish Sea on a challenging 9-hole course with 18 tees, playing to a par of 71 from the white tees. The fairways are large but tight and the greens are well-guarded, with pot bunkers and culverts ready to punish wayward shots. The signature hole is the 9th — a 458-yard hole played into the wind that plays as a par-4 outward and a par-5 inward, with out-of-bounds on the left, fairway bunkers along the way and deep bunkers protecting the green. The course is very dry underfoot with firm, fast greens and is therefore playable all year round.

The clubhouse, rebuilt in 2009, offers bar and catering facilities, and the club is a Registered Community Amateur Sports Club committed to promoting participation in the sport. Visitors are welcome for green fees, and new memberships are available. The course is located on Rhyl Coast Road (A548) between the seaside resorts of Rhyl and Prestatyn, and is only 15 minutes from the A55 expressway, giving easy access to the motorway network.
