Golf Course Overview

Queenwood Golf Club opened in 2001, designed by Scottish architect David McLay Kidd (best known for the original course at Bandon Dunes) for American entrepreneur Frederick D. Green. This ultra-exclusive private club was conceived as a return to the heathland traditions of Sunningdale, Walton Heath, Woking and Swinley Forest. The course plays to a par of 71 over approximately 6,830 yards, characterised by bold green complexes that roll like a sea swell, heather-clad bunker faces serving as both a strategic and aesthetic element, and clever use of elevation. The routing zigzags constantly, exploring the relatively open landscape and giving the course an expansive feel. Queenwood has earned recognition including Golf World UK's #1 Best New Private Course of 2002.

Queenwood is widely regarded as one of the most exclusive private golf clubs in Europe, with membership capped at around 350 and a reputed joining fee of £145,000. The membership has reportedly included actors Michael Douglas, Hugh Grant and Catherine Zeta-Jones, and professionals Darren Clarke and Ernie Els. Practice facilities rival those of professional tour events, and the club has hosted the Tavistock Cup. Located on Stonehill Road in Ottershaw, directly opposite Foxhills, the club is around 30 miles from central London with easy M25 access.
