Golf Course Overview
Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club was founded in 1903 after Dunskey Estates owner Charles Orr Ewing MP surveyed the cliff-top site the previous year with Charles Hunter, professional at Prestwick. The club operates two courses: the 18-hole Dunskey, a 5,913-yard par-70 rolling moorland and seaside-heath layout sitting around 150 feet above sea level, and the Dinvin, a nine-hole par-three course originally created in 1912 as a ladies' course. On clear days golfers are treated to magnificent views across the North Channel to Northern Ireland (just 22 miles away), the Isle of Man and the Mull of Kintyre. The course was realigned in 1912 and has been upgraded in recent decades with additional bunkering that has tightened the layout.
The Gulf Stream gives Portpatrick one of the mildest climates in Scotland and keeps the course playable year-round. The attractive clubhouse offers a well-appointed lounge and dining room with panoramic windows, a pro shop carrying Titleist hire clubs, practice facilities including a driving range, and buggy and trolley hire. The nearby Portpatrick Hotel (1905, designed by J.K. Hunter of Ayr) provides convenient accommodation. The club is reached off the A77 at the village of Portpatrick and is a natural partner for Stranraer or Wigtownshire County in a Galloway break.

This rollickingly good golf course in Dumfries & Galloway covers only 5,913 yards (par 70) but contains 18 individual holes that each has its own character and places the emphasis very much on fun.
