 Golf Course Overview

Pitlochry Golf Club was laid out in 1908 by the renowned golf architect Willie Fernie of Troon, opened in 1909 and later modernised by Major Cecil Hutcheson in the early 1920s. Set on ancient land where Pictish forts once stood and where Robert the Bruce, Mary Queen of Scots and the Earl of Marr once walked, this scenic parkland course in Highland Perthshire offers one of the finest inland challenges in Scotland. Measuring around 5,700 yards with a par of 69, the course features undulating tree-lined fairways and immaculate greens, with the memorable opening five-hole ascent to the layout's higher level and sweeping views down the Tummel Valley under the shadow of Ben y Vrackie. The back nine begins with "Lag-Na-Buie," a long par-4 that is the hardest hole and starts Pitlochry's own "Amen Corner." Past players include Harry Vardon, Walter Hagen, Max Faulkner, Bob Charles and Pitlochry's own Ryder Cup player John Panton. The club founded the Highland Amateur Open Tournament in 1909, still held annually in August.

The clubhouse features a bar, clubhouse restaurant, lunch menu, bar snacks, tea and coffee, changing rooms and a pro shop with equipment and motor trolley usage. There is also a driving range and a 6-hole Lettoch Links course for additional practice. Visitors are welcomed weekdays and weekends with advance booking, and the course is generally walked (buggies available for hire). Located off Golf Course Road on the north side of Pitlochry (28 miles northwest of Perth on the A924), this course is a gem in the gateway to the Highlands.
