Golf Course Overview
Phoenix Golf Club was established in 1932 at Brinsworth, just outside Rotherham, and was extended to its current 18-hole form in 1935. The course has a notable design pedigree, having originally been laid out by Tom Williamson with subsequent development carried out by the highly respected architect C.K. Cotton in 1952. The parkland layout measures 6,181 yards off the white tees for a par of 71, and is an easy-walking course that provides an enjoyable test for golfers of all abilities while offering sweeping views over the surrounding South Yorkshire countryside.
Phoenix operates as a welcoming semi-private club run through the Phoenix Sports and Recreation club, and facilities include a pro shop, practice chipping area, putting green, practice nets and a driving range. Societies, groups and casual visitors are welcomed, and the club is a popular choice for its affordable green fees and friendly atmosphere. The course is conveniently located off Bawtry Road in Brinsworth, just a short drive from Rotherham town centre and with easy access from the M1 and the wider South Yorkshire road network.
