Golf Course Overview
Perranporth Golf Club is one of Cornwall's most outstandingly natural championship links courses, designed by five-time Open champion James Braid in 1927 with a layout that has remained essentially unchanged to this day — a genuine tribute to Braid's work. The 18-hole course measures 6,296 yards to a par of 72 and draws high praise for greens that are hard, fast and absolutely true, widely considered among the best in the South West. Taking full advantage of the natural dune contours above Perran Bay, the course presents rolling terrain, blind shots and each hole its own distinct character, with the 5th and 14th tees in particular offering truly spectacular panoramic views over the sea and the beach below. The course has been ranked around 14th in Britain's top 100 courses and plays in excellent condition 365 days a year thanks to its exceptional drainage.
Facilities include a spacious bar and restaurant with superb course and sea views, a pro shop, practice ground, PGA tuition, club, trolley and buggy hire plus on-site accommodation for golf breaks. Visitors, societies and corporate days are welcomed throughout the year and the club regularly hosts Cornwall county fixtures including the 2026 Cornwall Men v Dorset Men county match. Perranporth sits on Budnic Hill just above the town and is easily reached from Newquay via the A3075 in under fifteen minutes.
