Entering an open competition at Otley offers the chance to play a Harry Loveridge-designed parkland course founded in 1906, nestled between the high ground of the Chevin and the River Wharfe with panoramic vistas of Wharfedale, where two streams — Gill Beck and Mickle Ing Beck — meander across the course and put a premium on accuracy over length.

Golf Course Overview
Otley Golf Club was founded in September 1906 by three local gentlemen — Fred T. Hunter, J. E. Sharpe and Edgar Shaw — and its original 18-hole course, designed by the Shipley professional Harry Loveridge, opened on 28 September 1907. A major change in the mid-1960s saw the clubhouse relocated to the middle of the 100-acre layout, leading to a resequencing of the holes, and more recent improvements have been overseen by Andrew Mair. The parkland course plays to a par of 70 over 6,275 yards, with two streams (Gill Beck and Mickle Ing Beck) influencing shots on seven holes, while the wooded Otley Chevin provides a dramatic backdrop and views stretch north-west across Wharfedale. The par-4 4th and 13th are notable card-wreckers, and the par-3 5th is widely regarded as one of the toughest short holes around.
Facilities include a driving range, chipping area, putting green, practice bunker and a pro shop with PGA tuition, alongside a clubhouse offering bar, catering and function space. The club is a proud members' organisation with men's, women's and junior sections all well established, and is affiliated to the Yorkshire Union, Harrogate Union and Yorkshire Ladies County Association. Otley is on West Busk Lane on the western edge of the town, around 15 minutes from Leeds Bradford Airport and close to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
