Golf Course Overview

Oswestry Golf Club was founded in 1903 and its current 18-hole parkland layout at Aston Park is widely attributed to James Braid. The par 70 course plays to around 6,000 yards of mature, tree-lined parkland and is regarded as one of the finest conditioned courses in the region - ranked #1 in Shropshire by Top100Golfcourses.com as of May 2025. Well-drained fairways and greens keep it consistently playable year-round, and the course has been home to two Ryder Cup captains over its history. Aston Park's rolling terrain, subtle bunkering and pace-true greens offer a fair test to golfers of all standards.

The members-owned club retains a traditional atmosphere while welcoming visitors and societies, with preferential rates for Shropshire & Herefordshire County Card holders and members of the Association of James Braid Courses. Facilities include a clubhouse with bar, dining, and changing areas, a Pro Shop, practice ground and limited buggy hire. The club runs a busy calendar of opens, society days and winter warmer packages and offers an academy programme for new lady golfers. Aston Park lies at Queen's Head, around four miles south-east of Oswestry, with quick access from the A5.
