Golf Course Overview
Olton Golf Club was founded in November 1893 at a meeting at Tansor House in St Bernard's Road, Olton, with its original nine-hole layout by Lindsay G. Ross extended to 18 holes by 1901. A decade after founding, the club moved to its current 95-acre Mirfield Road site in Solihull, retaining its original name. The parkland course has been influenced over the years by J.H. Taylor, Harry Colt, F.W. Hawtree and more recently David Hemstock (1993). It plays to a par of 70 over 6,263 yards with a slope rating of 135, featuring gentle undulations, ditches crossing several fairways and greens widely praised as among the best putting surfaces in the country.
The well-appointed clubhouse offers bar and dining, changing and locker rooms, pro shop with custom-fitting and club hire, along with lessons from PGA professionals. Practice facilities include a driving range, putting green, chipping area and practice bunker, and the club accepts society and corporate golf days. Olton is just a mile from Solihull town centre and minutes from junction 5 of the M42.
