 Golf Course Overview

Northamptonshire County Golf Club has been in Church Brampton since 1909, with the original 18-hole course designed by Harry S. Colt — the same architect responsible for Wentworth and Sunningdale — and opened for play in April 1910. James Braid carried out notable alterations in 1947, reshaping bunkers and relocating the 18th green to its current position in front of the clubhouse. Cameron Sinclair's three additional holes, opened in 2004, provide a 9-hole loop back to the clubhouse for those playing 9 or 27 holes. The par-70 heathland course measures around 6,716 yards and is ranked within the UK's top 100, with small contoured greens, gorse, heather and pine woods shaping a fast-running traditional test. The club also serves as an Open Qualifier venue.

Facilities include an extensive real-turf practice ground, a Ladies Academy, the 4-hole all-weather par-3 Colt Course, a Swing Studio for custom fitting, and a world-class PGA coaching team. The traditional clubhouse has been sympathetically extended to include a dining room seating up to 100, a meeting room overlooking the 18th green, and the 19th bar. Societies and groups of 12 or more are welcomed midweek. The club sits on Golf Lane in Church Brampton, reached via the A4500 from junction 16 of the M1.

Northamptonshire County

★★★★ ★
4.2/5

"Northamptonshire County Golf Club at Church Brampton is a big, bold and at times intimating heathland course that provides one of the sternest inland tests in the country."

It's a venue that seems to go somewhat under the radar, even within golfing circles around the Midlands, but can and does hold its own against most of its peers.
