 Golf Course Overview

Mendip Spring Golf Club was developed from the former Brinsea Farm site by original owners Dennis and Claire Bidwell, with its 9-hole Lakeside course opening in 1991 and the 18-hole Brinsea Championship course officially opening in September 1992. The name derives from the natural springs running from the nearby Mendip Hills, which feed the 11 acres of water hazards threaded through the 27-hole complex. The Brinsea Championship Course plays to a par of 71 over 6,412 yards, built to USGA sand-based green specification with more than 20 miles of secondary drainage. Water comes into play throughout, most memorably at the dramatic par-3 2nd where the tee shot must clear a lake covering 60% of its 173-yard length. The 9-hole Lakeside course of six par fours and three par threes is built to the same high standard, set among picturesque lakes and orchard.

Facilities are based around a sympathetically restored 16th-century farmhouse housing a bar, restaurant, function suite and hotel accommodation. A 14-bay covered driving range, short game area, putting green and practice bunker support a teaching operation staffed seven days a week by six qualified PGA professionals, with a well-regarded pro shop offering equipment and club fitting. Mendip Spring welcomes visitors, societies and corporate events, and attracts wildlife from Chew Reservoir and nearby reserves to its mature landscaping. The club is located on Honeyhall Lane in Congresbury, a short drive from the M5 corridor between Bristol and Weston-super-Mare.
