Golf Course Overview
Longniddry Golf Club was formed in 1921 and lies on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth at the western end of East Lothian's famed Golf Coast. The 18-hole course was designed by the renowned architect Harry S. Colt, with further refinements by James Braid in 1936 and more recent work by Donald Steel, Niall Glen and Paul Kimber. An unusual combination of heathland, parkland and links features, the par-68 layout extends to around 6,271 yards and notably contains no par-5s but eight par-4s measuring more than 400 yards, with raised greens, strategic bunkering and mature pines framing the fairways. Spectacular views stretch across the Forth to Fife and the Edinburgh skyline.
Longniddry has hosted Open Final Qualifying, Scottish Open qualifying, the US Kids European Championship and the Scottish Girls Open, reflecting its pedigree. The stone-built clubhouse has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with a patio overlooking the 18th green, a well-stocked pro shop offering Titleist and Ping as main brands, practice putting green and driving nets, trolley and buggy hire and caddies by prior arrangement. The course is the closest seaside course to Edinburgh, just 18 miles away, and Longniddry's own train station on the North Berwick line is a 15-minute ride from Waverley with only a ten-minute walk to the clubhouse.

"Due to the proximity of the coast Longniddry can certainly be classed as a seaside course although it is not deemed a true links."
Many of the holes have the wonderful playing characteristics of links golf whilst others meander through tranquil woodland and offer alternative challenges to the ground game.
