Golf Course Overview

Innellan Golf Club opened in 1891 and has retained essentially the same layout for more than 125 years. The nine-hole heathland course sits above Innellan village, a few miles south of Dunoon on the Cowal peninsula, and offers panoramic views of the Firth of Clyde stretching from Helensburgh in the north to Ailsa Craig in the south, taking in the islands of Bute, Cumbrae and Arran along with the Heads of Ayr. Playing around 4,824 yards over eighteen with a standard scratch of 64 from the medal tees, it mixes longish par-threes with tricky par-fours. The signature sixth hole, "Rubicon", is a 400-yard-plus par-four with out-of-bounds all down the right and the Rubicon burn crossing the fairway — most golfers lay up short and face a long uphill approach to a raised green.

Facilities are modest but welcoming: the clubhouse offers a bar, changing facilities and a warm welcome for visitors. The club is popular for two-for-one visits and partners with local accommodation. Innellan sits on Knockamillie Road close to the A815 and is easily reached from Dunoon town centre and its ferries to Gourock, making it a natural pairing with Cowal Golf Club or Blairmore & Strone for an Argyll break.
