 Golf Course Overview

Ilfracombe Golf Club was established in 1892 and occupies a truly remarkable clifftop setting on the rugged North Devon coast within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The 18-hole course measures 5,796 yards to a par of 69 and lives up to its "See the Sea from Every Tee" billing, with every hole offering views across the Bristol Channel to the Welsh coast, Lundy Island and the Atlantic horizon. The layout is compact and idiosyncratic, working across dramatic undulating terrain; signature holes include the 75-yard par-3 4th played across a quarry, and the cherished views from the 8th, 13th and 14th tees. The prevailing south-westerlies and many blind shots make it a memorable test despite the modest yardage, and the course's own micro-climate together with excellent drainage keeps it open year-round.

Facilities include a well-stocked pro shop offering tuition and equipment hire (clubs, electric trolleys and buggies), a covered practice area, the recently refurbished 1892 Bar & Restaurant with panoramic views, and a clubhouse available for private functions and weddings. Visitors, societies and holidaymakers are warmly welcomed. Ilfracombe sits on the A399 coast road at Hele Bay, approximately one mile east of Ilfracombe town and around four miles from Mortehoe, making it an obvious pairing with Royal North Devon and Saunton on a tour of the region.
