Golfer reviews for Hornsea Golf Club
Best in East Yorks!
Just played in the Seniors Open Competition. Course was in excellent condition and with the wind gusting off the sea it was challenging golf.
Clubhouse very welcoming and contributed to a great days golf.

Golf Course Overview
Hornsea Golf Club was established in 1898 and has a remarkable design pedigree. The current Rolston Road course opened in 1908 with an original layout by Open champion Alex (Sandy) Herd, was substantially revised by Dr Alister MacKenzie from 1912 and further reshaped by James Braid following a review in 1924. More recently, Howard Swan carried out bunkering and layout work from 2010. The 18-hole parkland course measures around 6,647 yards to a par of 72, with a course rating of 71.7 and a slope of 130. The first seven holes run outwards towards the town's iconic water tower before a looped stretch leads to an inward nine widely regarded as among the finest finishing sequences in the county, highlighted by the signature 11th hole.
Practice facilities and a well-stocked pro shop support the playing experience, with coaching provided by PGA Head Professional Richard Pace. The clubhouse offers a bar, restaurant and function rooms operated by Hanson Hospitality. Hornsea lies in secluded parkland within a mile of the East Yorkshire coast, just a short walk from Hornsea Mere and the seafront. The club is reached via the B1242 coast road, around 15 miles north-east of Hull, and has hosted numerous regional and county events including East Riding Union competitions.

Golf Empire Verdict
Hornsea
"Hornsea Golf Club provides an enjoyable round of golf."
Located just a mile from the sea on the East Coast of Yorkshire it's a fast running course, albeit a parkland layout, with a wide variety of holes. The greens are usually in exceptional condition and putt similar to a links course.
