Good food and a warm welcome to visitors. Green Fees are good value for money to play a links course which is a good test. Plenty of Open Comps to enter.

Golf Course Overview
Hesketh Golf Club holds the distinction of being the oldest golf club in Southport, founded in 1885 at a time when the English Golf Union itself had its roots here — the initiative for forming the Union came from a former Hesketh Captain who became its first president. The 18-hole course measures 6,718 yards at a par of 72, designed by George Lowe (who also designed the originals at Royal Birkdale and Royal Lytham) and James Braid, with recent reshaping by Hawtree Design. Half the layout weaves through magnificent sand dunes beside a nationally renowned nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest, while the remaining holes take on a more parkland character.
Hesketh is a regular Open Championship Regional Qualifying venue and has hosted the Amateur Championship (co-hosted with Hillside in 2011), the R&A Junior Open, the British Senior Amateur, and the Lancashire County Championship. Henry Cotton famously described the par-three 16th as the finest short hole in Lancashire. The club also houses the legendary "Hitler Trophy" won by member Arnold Bentley at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, making Hesketh one of golf's great historic landmarks.

"A round at Hesketh is very much a game of two halves. Well almost."
Whilst there is no doubting this is a true links golf course seven of the holes are certainly more 'linksy' than the others. What makes this difference perhaps even more apparent is the need to cross the busy Fleetwood Road which dissects the two varying parts of the course.
