Golf Course Overview
Hartlepool Golf Club was established in 1906 and celebrated its centenary in 2006. The course began as a rough nine-hole layout at Hart Old Village on land rented from W. Purves, the club's first captain, before moving in 1907 to its current location at Hart Warren on the Durham coast. Classified as a links course – one of relatively few genuine links in the North East – it measures about 6,202 yards to a par of 70, with a course record of 62 set in 1997 by Graeme Storm, the 1999 British Amateur Champion, who learned the game here. A grassed railway embankment conceals the course from the rest of the town and gives it a sheltered, secluded coastal feel.
The clubhouse provides a bar, catering and changing facilities, and the club operates a pro shop and practice areas. Visitors, societies and corporate groups are welcomed by prior arrangement, and the course regularly hosts open events. Hartlepool is reached from the A19 by following the A179 towards Hartlepool, then Easington Road and King Oswy Drive, turning into Speeding Drive for the clubhouse.

"Hartlepool is a slow burner of a golf course. It takes three or four holes to really warm up but once it does it produces some excellent true links golf."
There are a handful of holes at this East Coast gem that provide golf approaching the highest order. It's just a shame it cannot deliver this for the full 18 holes.
