 Golf Course Overview

Grim's Dyke Golf Club was founded in 1909 by a group of local residents at Hatch End, and takes its name from the Anglo-Saxon earthwork that still runs across the property. The original nine-hole course was ceremonially opened in June 1910 by Sir William S. Gilbert of Gilbert and Sullivan fame, whose country estate bordered the land and who served as the club's first President. In 1921 the course was extended to 18 holes by five-time Open Champion James Braid, whose routing survives largely intact today. The picturesque parkland layout measures around 5,600 yards to a par of 69 (SSS 67), and its compact length is offset by tight tree-lined fairways, cleverly contoured greens and Braid's classic strategic bunkering.

The clubhouse offers a bar, dining, function rooms and well-stocked pro shop, with a driving range, putting green and practice nets on site. Grim's Dyke enjoys a reputation as one of Middlesex's friendliest clubs, welcoming visitors and societies alongside its members, and was the winner of the 2024 Middlesex Sabres championship. The course sits on Oxhey Lane in Hatch End, around 14 miles from London and within easy reach of the M1, M25, M40, A1 and A41, two miles from Harrow and four from Watford.
