Golfer reviews for Golspie Golf Club
A huge surprise! Staying at Dornoch we decided to play all the local courses as well as the top shelf rated ones and they just kept delighting our group
At Golspie you had to be on your game especially on at least half the holes to avoid bad scoring
The outlook from the clubhouse was sublime and a great day was had in mostly sun with plenty of wind.
Brilliant course, each hole has its own particular problems. Tricky in the wind but very rewarding.
You could place the ninth on any golf course in the country.
A must play for any golfer with a mixture of links heathland and parkland.

Golf Course Overview
Golspie Golf Club was founded in the spring of 1889 by members of the Sutherland Golf Society, although golf had been played on the links as early as 1878. The 9-hole course was extended to 18 holes in 1905 and officially opened by the Duchess of Sutherland, before being redesigned by James Braid in 1926, whose alterations have largely defined the course ever since. Set on the shores of the Dornoch Firth with Ben Bhraggie as a backdrop, the 6,021-yard par-70 layout features a beguiling mix of classic links, heathland and parkland holes, with greens widely praised as among the best in the Highlands.
The clubhouse, in its current location since 1967, offers a bar, restaurant and pro shop alongside a driving range, putting green and chipping area. Golspie also offers its own on-course accommodation at Stone's Throw Cottage. The club holds reciprocal agreements with clubs across the Highlands, Orkney and the James Braid Association, and is an easy hour's drive north of Inverness on the A9, on the North Coast 500 route.

Golf Empire Verdict
Golspie
"Walking off the 1st tee at Golspie towards a featureless, flat fairway it might not be immediately apparent about all the golfing goodness that lies in store and just how terrific it is…. but by the time you have reached the turn you are acutely aware of the spectacular nature of this fascinating and varied links."
Golspie may not be love at first sight but it is likely to be an everlasting relationship. James Braid has once again come up with the goods at this fun, and at times quirky, hybrid links course.
