Golf Course Overview
Fingle Glen Golf Hotel sits just off the A30 at Tedburn St Mary, around six miles west of Exeter. The course opened as a nine-hole layout in 1989 and was extended to the full 18 in 2002, with further improvements in 2004. It plays to a par of 69/70 at 5,685 yards with a course rating of 67.9 and slope of 120, taking advantage of the surrounding Devon countryside and the views out towards Dartmoor. Ditches run throughout the layout, putting a premium on placement from the tee, and the par-four 16th — where longer hitters may try to carry the ditch and weaker hitters lay up short of a pond-protected green — is one of the more strategic holes.
The on-site hotel has 10 en-suite guest rooms along with 24 Norwegian-style log cabins overlooking the first fairway and 18th green, plus a restaurant, clubhouse bar, 12-bay driving range and function space. Clubhouse, hotel and restaurant were refurbished in 2019, and the club is run as a family-owned business under the 'Fingle Glen at Bishops Park' branding. Visitors, societies and stay-and-play groups are welcomed throughout the year.
