Golf Course Overview
Falkirk Golf Club, affectionately known as "Carmuirs", was established in 1922 with the 18-hole parkland layout later refined by James Braid in 1927 — his strategic bunkering, improved greens and tees still characterise the course today. The Main Course measures 6,230 yards from the competition tees to a par of 72 (par 70 from the front tees), with beautiful fairways, smooth greens and undulating terrain. The signature 10th hole, 'Canal Wheel', provides panoramic views of the iconic Falkirk Wheel, while the par-3 7th and 11th run alongside the railway line. A burn separates the 14th and 15th, adding interest to the closing stretch.
The clubhouse includes the Carmuirs Lounge with views over the 1st and 18th holes, the smaller Antonine Suite for private dining, plus extensive catering open to the public. Practice facilities include four bays, a putting green and short-game area; the well-stocked pro shop is run by PGA Professional Stewart Craig. Visitors, societies and corporate groups are welcomed throughout the year. The course sits 1.5 miles from the centre of Falkirk and just three miles from Junction 1 of the M876.
