Golf Course Overview
Fairmont St Andrews is a luxury resort with two championship 18-hole courses set on a clifftop above St Andrews Bay. The Torrance Course, designed by Sam Torrance with Gene Sarazen, opened in 2001 as a classic links-style layout with clifftop greens and firm fast running fairways; it has served as an Open Qualifying venue. The Kittocks Course, originally designed by Bruce Devlin with Gene Sarazen, opened in 2001 and was expanded to 18 coastline-hugging holes offering breathtaking views of St Andrews, the Eden Estuary and the North Sea. Both courses play to a par of 72, feature four sets of tees, and are consistently ranked among Scotland's finest resort courses; together they have hosted Open and Senior Open qualifying.
The resort offers five-star hotel accommodation, a spa, multiple restaurants and bars, pro shops, practice facilities and buggy hire. Visitors are welcomed year-round (Kittocks closed during winter) with online booking; green fees are dynamic based on availability and demand. Located off the A917 just north of St Andrews at the entrance to the town, the resort is easily reached from Leuchars and the M90, and provides a stay-and-play base for exploring Fife's legendary courses.

"I’ve been keen to play both courses at the Fairmont Resort on the outskirts of St. Andrews for some time and finally made that a reality in October 2020 just a matter of days after the Torrance course had played host to a European Tour event."
The reason it has taken so long for me to play these courses, despite several trips to St. Andrews, and probably why despite their many qualities it is so frustrating to not be able to really highly recommend these two excellent layouts, is that there are so many other strong candidates when you are visiting the Home of Golf.
