Golf Course Overview

Hainault Golf Club — often listed as Essex (Hainault) — is set across some 300 acres of Hainault Forest Country Park on Romford Road in Chigwell. The club offers two 18-hole courses originally designed by five-times Open Champion J.H. Taylor: the Upper Course opened in 1908 at 5,983 yards and par 70 (rating 68.2, slope 115), and the Lower Course, dating from 1923, plays at par 70 through more open and strategic parkland. The combined 36-hole layout offers panoramic views over the London skyline and the 17th tee on the Upper claims to sit at the highest point in Essex.

On-site facilities include two full 18-hole courses, a driving range, more than 40 buggies, a pro shop, chipping area and putting green. The clubhouse upstairs houses a licensed Chinese restaurant that also serves as the "19th hole". The complex is managed by UK Golf Group on behalf of Redbridge Council, with oversight from Vision Redbridge Culture & Leisure. Access is straightforward from the A12 and M25, making the club accessible from central London.
