Golf Course Overview
Enville Golf Club was established in 1935 by a group of golfers from the Churchill and Blakedown area, with 1936 Open champion Alf Padgham consulted on the original 9-hole design, built by foreman Arthur Wrigglesworth. The layout was extended to 18 holes in 1940, with further expansion in 1972 and completion of a second 18-hole course in 1983. The club now offers two full courses: the Highgate, a par-72 measuring 6,703 yards with contributions from Horace Lewis and Frank Pennink, and the Lodge, a par-71 of 6,472 yards. Both routings combine heathland holes among heather, oak, pine and birch with sections of woodland, all on well-drained sandy subsoil that keeps play going year-round.
The Highgate has hosted Regional Open Qualifying for The R&A, the R&A Girls' British Open Amateur Championship (2017) and the R&A Girls' Under-16 Amateur Championship (2021–2023), while the Lodge has staged Clutch Pro Tour events. Enville added one of the most comprehensive practice facilities in the Midlands in 2010, and the club also features a spike bar, pro shop, teaching services and welcoming clubhouse. The club sits on Highgate Common near Enville, about five miles west of Stourbridge on the fringe of the Black Country.

This fascinating private members club was founded in 1935 as a nine hole course before it was gradually increased over the next half a century or so, when two eighteen hole courses were completed, to what we have today.
