Golf Course Overview

SRUC Elmwood Golf Course was officially opened in May 1998 by Sir Michael Bonallack, then Secretary of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. Owned and operated by Scotland's Rural College (SRUC), Elmwood is unique as one of the premier golf and greenkeeping training facilities in the UK, with many former students now employed on prestigious courses around the world. The 18-hole parkland course measures around 5,951 yards to a par of 70 (SSS 68) and is laid out against the backdrop of Tarvit Hill and the Lomond Hills. The environmentally-friendly course features 2 par-5s, 12 par-4s and 4 par-3s, with ponds, wildlife and scenic views adding to its appeal. The long rough heavily penalises wayward shots, so accurate driving is well rewarded.

Facilities are extensive, including a floodlit driving range with grass tees, target greens, indoor bays and an extensive short-game practice area, plus full coaching services. The Fairways Restaurant offers a relaxed all-day dining experience using locally-sourced ingredients. Visitors are welcomed all year round with no restrictions on play, reception open 8.30am – 4.30pm. Located at Stratheden on the eastern outskirts of Cupar, the course is easily reached from the A91 and is only a short drive from St Andrews, with round fees often discounted during quiet spells.
