Golf Course Overview
The Golf House Club, Elie, was established in 1875 – though the right to golf in Elie and Earlsferry has been traced back to 1589 when a royal charter was granted to the village. Widely regarded as one of the finest links courses in Fife and ranked among Scotland's best, the course is known as "Elie" to most golfers and was shaped in significant part by Old Tom Morris; it was on these links that James Braid developed the skills that would make him a five-time Open Champion. Measuring around 6,273 yards with a par of 70, the course is not long but its fairways are protected by beautifully-placed bunkering and its quick, contoured greens rank alongside the best in the country. The opening drive is played from a tee fronted by one of golf's most famous features – a periscope salvaged from HMS Excalibur used by the starter to signal when the fairway is clear.
The clubhouse features a comfortable members' lounge overlooking the 18th green, a bar, restaurant and locker rooms, with the adjoining Elie & Earlsferry Ladies' Club occupying its own space. Pro shop facilities include club, trolley and ride-on buggy hire (limited and for those with mobility needs), while caddies can be arranged independently. The course is open year-round and visitors are warmly welcomed with online booking available. Located on Golf Club Lane in the village of Elie & Earlsferry on the A917, the course is just 12 miles south of St Andrews and less than an hour from Edinburgh.

If ever the phrase 'less is more' applied to a course it would be here at The Golf House Club, Elie in Fife. It's a course that goes about its business in an unassuming manner, has many unique features and ultimately succeeds because of its brilliant use of the natural features of the land.
