Golf Course Overview

The Edzell Golf Club was established in 1895, originally laid out by noted architect Bob Simpson. The course was redesigned in 1933/34 on recommendations from James Braid and further upgraded by Martin Ebert of Mackenzie & Ebert in 2015, retaining its essential character throughout. Set on 128 acres at the foothills of the Angus Glens with the Grampian mountain range as backdrop, the Old Course is a heathland/parkland hybrid measuring 6,577 yards with a par of 71 (slope 126), known for the quality of its turf and greens. The opening holes are gentle before the demanding 447-yard par-4 second poses a severe test, and the closing stretch from the par-3 14th is widely regarded as the most scenic part of this inland layout. A complementary 9-hole West Water Course, designed by Graeme Webster, was added in 2001 (par 32, 2,057 yards).

Facilities include a smart new driving range, a clubhouse with full bar and catering offering breakfasts, lunches, high teas, carveries and dinners, and a well-stocked pro shop. Visitors are welcomed every day by advance booking (handicap certificate required), and the club offers competitive green fees and packages. Located off High Street in the beautiful village of Edzell, the course is easily reached from the A90 between Dundee and Aberdeen – turn onto the B966 just north of Brechin and continue for around four miles.
