 Golf Course Overview

Edgbaston Golf Club was founded in 1896, playing first at Warley Woods and then at Tennal Hall in Harborne before moving to its present Edgbaston Park setting in 1936. The current course was designed by the celebrated architect Harry S. Colt — reputedly his final design at the age of 76 — and winds through 144 acres of mature parkland beside the 11-acre Edgbaston Pool, a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The par-69 layout measures around 6,128 yards with a slope rating of 132, and is known for its sweeping tree-lined fairways, well-placed cross bunkers, small well-defended greens and demanding swales and run-offs that reward a sharp short game.

Consistently rated among the top three courses in Warwickshire and included in Peter Alliss's top 200 UK courses, the club uses the Grade II listed Georgian Edgbaston Hall as its clubhouse, offering bar and restaurant facilities, function and meeting rooms and a popular wedding venue. Practice facilities, a pro shop and coaching academy are also on site. The course is just over a mile from Birmingham city centre and easily reached from the A38 and A456.

Edgbaston

★★★★ ★
4.0/5

"Edgbaston is a highly impressive private members golf club laid out on a rolling, albeit compact, parcel of parkland just one mile from the centre of Birmingham."

Having been established in 1896 Edgbaston had a couple of different homes before the current layout was designed by the legendary H.S. Colt in 1936. The quality of his green settings are clear to see during the round and this makes a round here one of the best in the West Midlands.
