Golf Course Overview
Eaton Golf Club has a long heritage dating back to 1881, when it was established on the Duke of Westminster's Eaton Hall estate. The club moved to its present site in the village of Waverton in 1993, with an entirely new 18-hole parkland course designed by the celebrated Donald Steel and completed in collaboration with Tom Mackenzie and Martin Ebert. The course plays to a par of 72 over approximately 6,714 yards from the white tees, with a course rating of 73.5 and slope of 132. Holes are arranged as returning loops routed through woodland, around streams and ponds, and along the western edge bounded by the Shropshire Union Canal. Mature oak trees, new copses and USGA-specification contoured greens are hallmarks of the layout.
The clubhouse offers comfortable bar and dining, pro shop, changing rooms and function facilities; practice amenities include a short driving range, putting green and short-game area. Visitors and societies are welcomed and the club runs a strong calendar of open competitions alongside member events. The course is just five miles from Chester city centre, easily reached via the A41 and A51.
