 Golf Course Overview

East Brighton Golf Club was founded in 1893, first as Ovingdean Golf Club and then briefly as Kemp Town Golf Club before settling on its current name in 1901. The original 12-hole layout was extended to 18 in 1897, and a further 40 acres acquired in 1905 enabled a redesign by James Braid, who was selected over Willie Park Junior for the commission. The 18-hole downland course measures around 6,381 yards to a par of 72, with five short holes and five par fives giving plenty of variety. The hillside layout demands accuracy in the wind, and the tough par-four 14th runs alongside Brighton Racecourse, which forms the out-of-bounds on the right.

Facilities include a clubhouse with bar and function space, a pro shop, an indoor simulator room, chipping and putting greens, warm-up nets and a practice ground with 50-yard targets. A private members' club that welcomes societies and green-fee visitors, it sits just two miles east of central Brighton off Roedean Road, with easy access from the A259 and the wider Brighton & Hove road network.
