Golf Course Overview
The Dunnerholme Golf Club was founded in 1905 on the shores of the Duddon Estuary at Askam-in-Furness, on the southern edge of the Lake District National Park. It is a genuine links with an unusual 10-hole layout played from 18 tees, producing a round of roughly 6,107 yards and par 67. The name comes from Dunnerholme Rock, a limestone outcrop that juts into the estuary and forms a dramatic part of the course, with panoramic views from its summit. Tight fairways, true greens and exposure to coastal wind combine to create a surprisingly demanding test, with the third hole often singled out as a stern early challenge.
The club has a welcoming clubhouse with bar, food service and an outdoor seating area overlooking the course and estuary. Visitors are welcome every day and the club was a finalist for England Golf Club of the Year in 2021. Dunnerholme is reached via the A595 north of Barrow-in-Furness, turning off at Askam level crossing onto Duddon Road.
