Golf Course Overview

Dunkeld and Birnam Golf Club was originally constituted in 1892, with the first course designed by the legendary Old Tom Morris in the village of Birnam. The present course was officially opened in 1922 by Her Grace, the Duchess of Atholl, in a magnificent heathland setting on the hillside above the historic town of Dunkeld; it was extended from 9 to 18 holes in 2000, with the new holes laid out near the Loch of Lowes Nature Reserve (home of Lady the famous Osprey) adding rolling fairways, water features and a more parkland character. The course measures 5,471 yards with a par of 69, and is widely regarded as one of the most picturesque golf courses in Highland Perthshire – a hilly layout with blind tee shots and approaches that reward repeat play.

The clubhouse offers bar and catering, buggy hire, trolley and club hire, and a small pro shop stocked with essentials. Visitors are welcomed every day via online booking, and the course hosts the Perth & Kinross County Spring meeting and other county events each year. Located at Fungarth on the hillside just north of Dunkeld, the club is easily reached off the A9 and sits in beautiful Highland Perthshire countryside within easy reach of Pitlochry and Perth.
