Golf Course Overview

Dunfermline Golf Club was founded in 1887 and has occupied its present home at Pitfirrane near Crossford since 1953, with the current parkland course designed by J.R. Stutt of Paisley. Measuring 6,121 yards with a par of 72 (SSS 70), the course is laid out in the rolling woodlands of the Pitfirrane Estate and is widely acknowledged as one of Fife's finest parkland layouts. It has an unusual configuration of five par-5s and five par-3s, with several dogleg holes providing variety – the stretch from the 14th to the closing 480-yard 18th ("Halkett's Hame") is a particular test. The club also boasts a separate nine-hole par-3 course for short-game practice.

The clubhouse is Pitfirrane Castle itself, with parts dating back to 1583 – widely accepted as the oldest golf clubhouse in the world. Its interior features medieval woodwork, Flemish stained glass and an ornate plaster ceiling in the dining room, while modern catering and bar facilities sit alongside the historic features. Facilities include a full-service pro shop operated by Cumming Davidson Golf with leading brands, PGA tuition from head professional Kevin Moran, locker rooms with showers, driving range and practice areas. Visitors are welcomed with equipment hire and varied packages. Located on Cairneyhill Road in Crossford just west of Dunfermline, the club is easily reached off the A994 and M90.
