Fantastic day of golf to be had on this course.
Quite long with large shallow bunkers galore, tricky short holes and thoughtful play required on most holes - lay up or carry the hazard? Nothing can beat the views of St Andrews as you go around the course and the view from the clubhouse is stunning.
Every staff member was friendly and helpful which really added to an enjoyable day out. Give it a go - you won’t be disappointed.

Golf Course Overview
The Craigtoun Course at St Andrews Links – formerly known as The Duke's – is the most inland of the St Andrews Links Trust courses, laid out on the Mount Melville Estate about three miles south-west of the town. The course was originally designed by five-time Open Champion Peter Thomson, with significant later alterations and a new back-nine layout by Tim Liddy in 2006. Measuring 7,512 yards (par 71), Craigtoun offers a distinctly different experience from its seaside links cousins – this is a gorse- and tree-lined "highland" feel course sweeping majestically through open rural countryside and mature woodland. Birch and pine trees, gorse, rough-edged authentically designed bunkering and willowy rough combine to test every club in the bag, with large undulating greens demanding deft putting.
As part of St Andrews Links Trust, the Craigtoun Course features the full range of Trust facilities including pro shop, club hire, caddie services and a welcoming clubhouse. It is ranked among Scotland's top courses (60th in Scotland by Golf World 2025). Visitor green fees are around £155 in high season. Located just outside St Andrews on the A915 Kirkaldy/Leven road, the course is easily reached from the town and is included on many Links Trust tickets and packages.
