 Golf Course Overview

Duddingston Golf Club was founded in 1895 and occupies a spectacular setting at the foot of Arthur's Seat within what was once the Duke of Abercorn's deer park, little more than ten minutes from Edinburgh city centre. The parkland course was originally laid out by three-time Open Champion Willie Park Junior and later updated by James Braid, with further extensions by John Shade and Bill Biggar in the 1960s and 70s bringing it to its present length of approximately 6,525 yards from the white tees at par 72. The Braid Burn meanders through the course and comes into play on several holes, while mature trees, undulating greens and a quartet of par-5s give the layout its distinctive character. Signature holes include the opening par-5 Deer Park and the long par-5 eighth, Gates.

The clubhouse provides a well-stocked pro shop under head professional Stuart Wilson, a bar and catering service, and a function room that is popular for weddings and events. The course is regularly praised for its conditioning and the friendliness of its welcome, and offers club and buggy hire, practice facilities and a comprehensive visitor booking service. Duddingston sits close to Holyrood Palace, the Scottish Parliament and the Old Town's main attractions, and benefits from immediate access to the Edinburgh City Bypass linking north, south, east and west.
