 Golf Course Overview

Driffield Golf Club was founded in 1923 on the east side of the town at Meadow Road before relocating to its present home on the Sunderlandwick Estate, owned at the time by Sir Thomas Ferens, in 1934. After nine holes were surrendered to agriculture during the Second World War, the course remained a 9-hole layout until an extension programme in the 1980s restored it to 18 holes, officially reopened in September 1990. The parkland course measures around 6,205 yards to a par of 70, weaving through native trees, ponds and the tranquil Eastburn Beck trout stream. The feature hole is the 487-yard par-5 11th, bounded by three ponds and streams that make accuracy critical all the way to a narrow, heavily bunkered green.

The present brick clubhouse, replacing an earlier wooden building in 1980 and extended in 2002 by Ryder Cup star Howard Clark, offers a bar, lounge and catering for members and visitors. Practice facilities include a driving range and a short-game area, and the course hosts approximately 15,000 rounds per year including charity, society and corporate days. Driffield lies just south of the market town on the A164 Beverley road, around 13 miles north of Beverley and within easy reach of the Yorkshire Wolds, Bridlington and York.
