Golf Course Overview
Downes Crediton Golf Club was established in the mid-1970s on the historic Downes Estate, founded by local golf enthusiasts who wanted to bring the game to the Crediton community. The 18-hole parkland course is set in around 90 acres and measures approximately 5,954 yards to a par of 70. The front nine is relatively flat, tight and tree-lined and rewards accurate iron play, while the back nine opens into more dramatic, hilly terrain with steep changes in elevation and three ponds framing the signature par 3s, most notably the 12th. The course offers a genuine test for low handicappers while remaining fair for higher handicaps.
Facilities include a clubhouse with bar and catering, a pro shop, practice nets, a putting green and indoor simulator hire, with professional tuition offered on site. The club runs a full calendar of men's, ladies', juniors' and seniors' competitions along with Open events and well-supported roll-up golf. Societies and corporate days are welcomed throughout the week. Downes Crediton sits at Hookway on the outskirts of Crediton, around five miles from Exeter and easily reached from the A377.
