Golf Course Overview

The Dorset Golf & Country Club, originally opened as the East Dorset Golf Club in 1978, is a championship resort set in Hyde, just outside Bere Regis. The complex offers 27 holes designed by the celebrated architect Martin Hawtree — who has also consulted on R&A Open venues including St Andrews — laid out as three distinctive nine-hole loops: the Woodland, the Lakeland and the Parkland. Combined into an 18-hole championship round, the Lakeland and Parkland loops play to a par of 72, with Hawtree's trademark clover-shaped bunkers and expansive, undulating greens creating a stern test. The courses are built to full USGA specification, and the Lakeland/Parkland combination has been ranked among the top courses in Dorset.

The resort is a 5-star Visit Britain Gold Award venue and includes a 16-bedroom golf hotel, 12 luxury Scandinavian log homes with private saunas, an indoor championship bowls arena, a gym, three coarse fishing lakes and a Signature restaurant. Stay-and-play packages are very popular with groups and societies, with repeat business estimated at more than 65 per cent. Bere Regis is reached via the A35, roughly midway between Dorchester and Poole, and the Jurassic Coast is just a short drive away.
