Golf Course Overview
Donaghadee Golf Club was founded in 1927 to a Willie Fernie design and is a popular semi-links/parkland 18-hole course on the County Down coast. The course measures around 6,094 to 6,160 yards with a par of 71 and a Standard Scratch Score of 69-70, with magnificent views over the Irish Sea, the Copeland Islands and across to the Scottish coast. The mix of links and parkland character — together with a continual programme of bunker development — gives the course plenty of character. A bunker strategy redevelopment has been particularly well received by members and visitors.
Among the club's most distinctive features is the Donaghadee Golf Club Practice Academy, opened in 2010 by Norman Drew, with up to nine holes constructed and bunkered to USGA specifications and a short-range area. Other facilities include a clubhouse with bar bistro, restaurant, pro shop, locker rooms, putting green, club and trolley hire and tuition. Visitors are welcome on most days except Saturday. The course sits on Warren Road in Donaghadee, around 8km south of Bangor on the A2 coast road.
