Golf Course Overview
Founded on 22 October 1891, Dewsbury District Golf Club sits on high ground known locally as "The Pinnacle" on the hillside above Mirfield. The course was originally designed by four-time Open champion Old Tom Morris of St Andrews, expanded to a full 18 holes by Ted Ray (the Ganton professional) in 1906, and further altered by Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas in 1972. The part-parkland, part-moorland layout plays to a par of 71 at 6,360 yards and offers panoramic views across Calderdale, with undulating fairways, strategic bunkering and quick greens testing length, accuracy and stamina in roughly equal measure.
The clubhouse offers a well-regarded bar with balcony seating overlooking the course, a function suite and catering from Pinnacle Catering, while golf facilities include a practice ground (for members and societies only), short-game practice area completed in 2017 and one of the best-stocked pro shops in the region. Visitors are welcome every day subject to availability, and the club is a popular choice for societies and corporate days. Dewsbury District is signposted off Sands Lane in Mirfield, easily reached from junctions 25 and 40 of the M62/M1.
